A mass shooting incident occurred late Friday night in Leland, Mississippi, resulting in the tragic deaths of four individuals and leaving twelve others injured, four of whom are in critical condition.
The shooting took place on the main street of the city, approximately 120 miles northeast of Jackson, the state capital, as per Mayor John Lee’s account to CBS News.
Four of the injured victims were airlifted to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Currently, there are no suspects in custody.
The shooting coincided with an unusually crowded atmosphere in Leland, which was hosting a high school football game for its homecoming—a traditional event that celebrates alumni and school spirit each autumn.
