A Russian drone strike near a company shuttle bus in eastern Ukraine has tragically claimed the lives of twelve individuals, as confirmed by regional administration chief Oleksandr Ganzha. The incident occurred in the Pavlohrad district, where the vehicle was reportedly transporting workers from a local mine.
In addition to the fatalities, at least seven others sustained injuries. Ganzha stated, We are investigating the details. An air alert is ongoing in the region. The energy company DTEK, which operates in the area, referred to the incident as a targeted attack against its employees, asserting that 15 fatalities were reported.
This attack follows a series of assaults throughout the region, including a drone strike on a maternity hospital in Zaporizhzhia which left six individuals injured. Regional head Ivan Fedorov termed this latest assault further evidence that the war is 'directed against life.' He emphasized the need for continued support for those harmed by these attacks.
The escalation in violence comes amid continued targeting of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, severely impacting heating and electricity supplies during an extremely cold winter.
