WEST POINT, Miss. — In a shocking turn of events, a 24-year-old Mississippi man, Daricka M. Moore, has been arrested following a violent rampage that resulted in the deaths of six people on a Friday night.
The victims include Moore's father, Glenn Moore, 67, his brother Quinton Moore, 33, his uncle Willie Ed Guines, 55, and his 7-year-old cousin, along with a local church pastor, Rev. Barry Bradley, and the pastor's brother, Samuel Bradley. The shootings occurred at three separate locations, causing immense grief in the rural community.
Authorities apprehended Moore at a police roadblock in Cedarbluff shortly before midnight, and he remains in custody without bail, facing murder charges. Clay County District Attorney Scott Colom indicated the possibility of pursuing the death penalty, as the community grapples with the aftermath of this tragedy.
Investigations revealed that the first killings took place at the family's mobile home, with witnesses reporting that Moore then stole his brother's truck to drive to a cousin's house. After forcing entry, he is accused of attempting to commit sexual battery and then fatally shooting the young girl. Moore then made his way to a nearby church, where he killed the pastor and his brother.
Scott stated, “Whatever the reason is, we’re hoping that we’ll find out.” The emotional toll of this event has left surviving family members in shock, with the sheriff expressing the community's sorrow and disbelief. The state medical examiner is conducting autopsies on the victims as the investigation continues.
Colom emphasized the severity of the crimes, stating, “Six people, one night, several different scenes, it’s about as bad as it gets.”
