MINNEAPOLIS — A man from Minneapolis has been arrested and charged with cyberstalking and threatening federal immigration officers as tensions rise surrounding the enforcement actions taken in the area. Kyle Wagner, 37, faces serious allegations from federal prosecutors who claim he encouraged his followers on social media to confront and attack officers from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The charges against Wagner were outlined in a complaint filed in Michigan, and prosecutors are currently considering whether to pursue an indictment. His arrest and the nature of his threats have raised concerns regarding the violent rhetoric being directed at federal officials during a time of heightened scrutiny of immigration laws.

Wagner allegedly referred to ICE officers in derogatory terms such as gestapo and called for actions against them. Attorney General Pamela Bondi stated that Wagner identified himself as affiliated with extremist groups like antifa, leading to further scrutiny of his potential motives.

In response to these developments, the Trump administration confirmed the immediate withdrawal of around 700 federal officers from enforcement duties in Minnesota, indicating that a more extensive pullout would depend on improved conditions and reduced protests against federal personnel going forward.

According to the legal complaint, Wagner's social media activity included a video in which he issued a blatant threat to ICE officers, declaring, I’m coming for you. He faced serious backlash for doxxing individuals supportive of ICE, highlighting the risks posed by sharing private information of individuals linked to controversial policies.

The case has been notably filed in Michigan, leading to questions about jurisdiction, especially since the threats and doxxing occurred in the context of ongoing activities in Minnesota. Federal prosecutors noted the rising challenges within the U.S. Attorney’s office in Minnesota as they handle a significant influx of cases related to immigration enforcement.

Wagner’s actions exemplify the polarized views about immigration and law enforcement within the country, amidst a national debate on policy and procedure concerning immigration enforcement.
