Palestinian medics say that at least two children and a woman were killed by Israeli fire in western Gaza City. The casualties were reported after reports of a raid in the area, allegedly carried out by an Israel‑backed Palestinian militia, and subsequent shelling and air strikes by the Israeli military.

A separate incident in central Gaza killed another child, bringing the total to three deaths in the day.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced that a senior Hamas official had been arrested, but officials said the arrestee was unrelated to the Gaza City incident. Officials confirmed the striking of several targets in Gaza “in order to remove threats to the security forces”, noting no injuries among Israeli troops.

Video footage from Gaza City shows chaotic scenes, sounds of gunfire, and the aftermath of air strikes. Some local reports claim that a special Israeli unit infiltrated a crowded area using a van and motorcycles, but it remains unclear whether those involved were Israeli forces or members of an Israel‑backed Palestinian militia.

Reports suggest that the Israeli military carried out drone strikes to try to secure the special unit after its presence was uncovered.
