Nine people have been killed and 23 injured, including a child, in Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory, local officials say.
Eight residents died in the western Belgorod region in the past 24 hours, and a woman was shot down overnight in the southern Astrakhan region.
Ukraine reported two fatalities from drone attacks in the north‑eastern Sumy region and another two in eastern Donetsk, deepening the toll on Russian settlements.
These raids followed a night when Ukraine launched what Russia called a “largest‑scale” attack of the year that left at least seven people dead. Russia’s counter‑attacks on Ukraine also claimed seven deaths and wounded more than 39 on Saturday night.
Russia launched its full‑scale invasion in February 2022 and now controls roughly a fifth of Ukraine’s territory.
In Belgorod’s village of Koloskovo, the governor said a Ukrainian strike ignited a building and damaged a car. The injured child was hospitalized, while two others received care.
A woman was killed when a drone struck a home in the Astrakhan region, the governor confirmed. The strike targeted an industrial facility, which remained intact.
In Ukraine, officials said two Russian strikes killed people in Kramatorsk and Sloviansk in Donetsk, and the state services reported 54 trading pavilions set ablaze at a local marketplace.
Officials in Sumy confirmed a man and woman were killed overnight by a Russian drone attack, and an Odesa strike damaged a civilian vessel, injuring four.
Moscow has sought to deter foreign companies from trading with Ukraine by targeting its ports and coastline.
Kyiv has increased drone strikes deep inside Russian territory in recent weeks. On Saturday, Ukrainian forces launched 822 drones toward Russia, with 600 guided toward Moscow, according to the regional governor. He described the attack on the Russian capital as “one of the most massive drone attacks in recent memory.”
The latest waves also hit a Wildberries logistics centre. In Rostov and Belgorod, fatalities include five people in Russia’s southwestern region and a woman on a civilian bus. An elderly man died in a mushroom attack in Moscow. A warehouse belonging to Russia’s online retailer Wildberries was struck, disabling seven of its ten largest logistics hubs.
Russian forces have intensified missile attacks across Ukraine, and the Ukrainian energy company Naftogaz said that Russian forces had struck its facilities 13 times in the past week. In the Zaporizhzhia region, a guided aerial bomb hit a private house, killing two and wounding five others. Russia’s attacks on Kyiv targeted a FirePoint facility making parts for Ukrainian Flamingo missiles and a drone component factory.
Both sides accuse the other of targeting civilians, as the war drags on and humanitarian concerns mount.
