Drone footage released by the local authorities has revealed the destructive extent of the August wildfires in Spokane, Washington. The blazes scorched more than 10,000 acres and razed over 900 homes, while gusty winds rapidly fanned the flames, forcing the evacuation of roughly 64,000 residents.
The fires became the highest firefighting priority in the United States as the region struggled with severe drought and a flurry of other blazes across the Pacific Northwest. Despite the scale, no serious injuries or fatalities have been reported in the affected communities.
