D4vd Arrested on Suspicion of Murdering Teenage Girl
US singer D4vd has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a teenage girl who went missing last year, according to police reports.
The artist, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, was implicated in the investigation surrounding the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Her remains were discovered in his Tesla in September, prompting a grand jury investigation.
The Los Angeles Police Department announced that Burke, aged 21, has been detained without bail, with the case slated to be presented to the District Attorney's office soon.
In a statement, Burke's lawyers asserted, Let us be clear - actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death. They further noted that no indictment has been returned nor any criminal charge filed, stressing that Burke is being held only under suspicion.
The police indicated Burke was arrested specifically in connection to the murder of Celeste Rivas.
Concerns grew following the discovery of the 14-year-old's remains in a Hollywood tow yard, reported to authorities after complaints of an unusual odor emanating from the vehicle.
Investigators found her decomposed head and torso in a bag located in the front boot of Burke's Tesla, court documents reveal.
The county's medical examiner reported that the body was severely decomposed and could have been dead for several weeks prior to its discovery. No official cause of death has been announced, with the case remaining under investigation.
Rivas Hernandez, who lived about 75 miles from where her body was found, had been reported missing by her family the previous April. The case has drawn significant attention on social media, with many speculating about her connection to the singer.
This incident follows a grand jury's initial hearing in December, making Burke's arrest the first major development in a long-awaited case.
Adding to the complexity, Burke's father, Dawud Burke, recently contested a summons from California to testify before the grand jury, including materials from the case that previously remained private. This documentation identified D4vd as a target of the ongoing investigation.
Publicly, D4vd has maintained a low profile since the situation surrounding Rivas Hernandez unfolded, having previously canceled his world tour. His representatives stated he has been cooperating with law enforcement.
Adding to the enigmatic nature of the case, reports indicated that Rivas Hernandez was found with telling characteristics, including jewelry and a tattoo that mirrored one on Burke's finger.
Now, as the investigation unfolds, the music community watches intently to see how this high-profile case will proceed.
