A chauffeur who was driving Anthony Joshua when their car crashed, killing two of the boxer's friends, has appeared in court in Nigeria. Adeniyi Kayode, 46, was charged with four offenses, including death by dangerous driving.

Joshua's personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami, died on December 29 after their vehicle collided with a stationary lorry near Lagos. Joshua was treated in hospital for his injuries.

Kayode attended Sagamu Magistrates Court in Ogun state, where the case was adjourned until February 25 to allow the prosecutor time to obtain legal advice.

During the court appearance, Kayode wore a black hoodie and remained silent. He was granted bail of 5 million naira (approximately $3,500 or £2,600) after being released from custody.

Former heavyweight champion Joshua was discharged from the hospital two days after the Lexus SUV crash on the busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Both Ghami and Ayodele were pronounced dead at the scene, while Joshua was seen being helped from the wreckage.

Following the incident, Joshua expressed his sorrow in a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, honoring his friends and reflecting on the significance they held in his life.

Kayode faces charges for causing death by dangerous driving, as well as reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and driving without a valid driver's license.

Joshua, who has family ties in Sagamu, was reportedly headed to visit relatives for New Year celebrations when the crash occurred.
