President Trump selects former Fox News host and State Department spokeswoman for diplomatic role.
In a recent announcement via his platform Truth Social, President Donald Trump has put forth the nomination of Tammy Bruce as the next US deputy representative to the United Nations. Bruce, who has held the role of State Department spokesperson since Trump’s inauguration in January, has garnered praise from the president for her performance, which he deemed "fantastic."
Before diving into government service, Bruce spent over two decades as a conservative contributor with Fox News and is also a bestselling author known for her critical stance on liberal ideologies, with notable works including "Fear Itself: Exposing the Left's Mind-Killing Agenda." Her nomination comes amid discussions of the current geopolitical landscape and US foreign policy decisions that have attracted attention and controversy.
In his announcement, Trump described Bruce as a “Great Patriot, Television Personality, and Bestselling Author," and expressed his confidence in her ability to represent American interests at the UN with "brilliance." Bruce has notably been a spokesperson for several contentious US decisions, including those related to immigration policies and military contractors aiding in Gaza.
As of now, her official start date in the role remains uncertain, pending confirmation by the Senate. Trump’s existing nominee for UN ambassador, Mike Waltz, has yet to receive Senate approval. Presently, Dorothy Shea serves as the acting ambassador to the UN, following her tenure as deputy ambassador in 2024.
