In a shocking incident at Avalon Airport, near Melbourne, a 17-year-old boy armed with a shotgun attempted to board Jetstar Flight 610, destined for Sydney. The airport authorities reported that around 2:20 p.m. on Thursday, passengers and crew members courageously intervened to detain the armed teenager.
According to witnesses, the individual entered the aircraft wearing a high-visibility vest and tool belt, causing suspicion among crew members who sought to verify his credentials. Barry Clark, a sheep shearer traveling to Sydney for a football match, played a crucial role in overpowering the teen. He recounted the moment, stating, “He got agitated and before we know it there was a gun, a shotgun appeared.”
Exercising quick reflexes, Clark managed to subdue the boy by twisting his hand, forcing him to the ground, and keeping him restrained until police arrived on the scene. Officers quickly detained the suspect and later discovered two bags and a vehicle connected to the teen. As a safety measure, the bomb response unit was summoned to investigate the bags. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the incident has drawn attention to the bravery of individuals who acted swiftly to prevent a catastrophic situation.
