Colombian senator Miguel Uribe Turbay remains in an "extremely critical condition" as he fights for his life after being shot in the head during an event in Bogota 10 days ago. Medical staff at the Santa Fe hospital reported the 39-year-old underwent emergency surgery on Monday to address bleeding in the brain. His wife, María Claudia Tarazona, has made a heartfelt appeal for prayers, emphasizing the importance of love and support for her husband's recovery.

The attack on Uribe on June 7 has sparked outrage and concern throughout the country, prompting silent marches with tens of thousands of participants over the weekend. “Miguel continues to fight for his life,” his wife stated, reflecting the intense emotional climate surrounding the senator's condition.

Uribe, who was actively running for his party's nomination ahead of the 2026 presidential election, was shot three times during a public speech in a middle-class area of Bogota. A 15-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after fleeing the scene and has been charged with attempted murder, asserting a not-guilty plea.
