Authorities in Mumbai have made a significant arrest following the shocking stabbing of Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan at his residence last week. The assailant, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, is a Bangladeshi citizen suspected of illegally residing in India. Khan, a major figure in the Indian film industry, is currently recovering in the hospital after undergoing surgery for injuries sustained during the attack.
The incident, which has garnered extensive media attention, unfolded when an intruder broke into Khan's upscale home, reportedly aiming to rob him. Police announced Shehzad's apprehension on Sunday, highlighting that evidence gathered indicates he had been residing in Mumbai for approximately six months, working under a false identity for a housekeeping service.
In his defense, Shehzad's lawyer has categorically denied the allegations against him, asserting that there is insufficient proof to establish his Bangladeshi nationality. Following his detention in Thane, a vicinity of Mumbai, Shehzad was presented in court where he was ordered to undergo five days of police custody for further questioning.
