LEAVENWORTH, Wash. — Authorities announced the discovery of remains they believe to be Travis Decker, an ex-soldier charged in connection with the deaths of his three daughters. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the findings in a statement on Thursday and indicated that they are conducting DNA testing to ensure the identification.

Travis Decker, 32, was declared a fugitive after the bodies of his daughters—9-year-old Paityn, 8-year-old Evelyn, and 5-year-old Olivia—were found dead at a campground in Washington state on June 2. Their bodies were discovered by a sheriff’s deputy when he located Decker's truck nearby, leading to his status as wanted by the law.

Authorities believe Decker had mental health struggles prior to the incident, as expressed by his ex-wife Whitney, who raised concerns about his stability and living conditions, requesting restrictions on his parenting rights. An autopsy determined that the girls died from suffocation, and there were disturbing details of them being bound and having plastic bags placed over their heads.

This latest development appears after an extensive search effort involving over 100 officials from various state and federal agencies scouring hundreds of square miles of remote and mountainous terrain. The U.S. Marshals Service had even offered a reward of $20,000 for any leading information on Decker's whereabouts.
