**US Military Support for Ukraine Resumes Amid Escalating Attacks**

**President Zelensky confirms renewed military supplies from the US following Russian aerial assaults.**

**The US has recommenced military shipments to Ukraine, including critical Patriot air defense systems, as Russian drone and missile attacks surge, prompting urgent requests for defense support from President Zelensky.**

The United States has revived military support to Ukraine, as confirmed by President Volodymyr Zelensky, following a brief suspension of significant arms shipments last week. US President Donald Trump stated during an NBC News interview that an agreement with NATO has been reached to send Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine amid an upsurge in Russian aerial assaults.

Zelensky previously expressed concerns about the halting of military supplies, notably regarding the critical Patriot systems and precision artillery shells, which were reportedly among the arms delayed. As Russia has intensified its drone and missile strikes on Ukrainian cities, leading to record-high civilian casualties, Zelensky has requested ten Patriot systems for enhanced defense.

The latest collaboration will involve NATO purchasing Patriot systems from the US and subsequently distributing them to Ukraine, with Trump indicating that NATO allies would "reimburse the full cost." Zelensky noted that Germany is set to cover two systems, while Norway will finance one, along with additional support from other European nations.

On Friday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio mentioned ongoing discussions with allies, urging countries like Germany and Spain to expedite the transfer of their existing Patriot batteries to Ukraine for faster deployment. He emphasized the necessity of such defensive support as Ukrainian forces face increasing aerial attacks.

With the latest barrage of Russian airstrikes—amounting to 728 drones in a single night—Zelensky has warned that Russia’s intent could escalate further. The UN recorded the highest monthly civilian casualties in June 2023, with over 230 fatalities, highlighting the urgent need for bolstered air defense capabilities.

In conjunction with these commitments, Trump has promised further support for Kyiv's defense, reflecting notable frustration regarding the lack of progress in peace negotiations. He emphasized the importance of international collaboration, aiming to strengthen Ukraine's military position against ongoing Russian threats.

Reports also indicate plans to send a refurbished Patriot battery, previously stationed in Israel, to bolster Ukraine's defenses, a process that has been in negotiation for some time. This equipment, combined with existing Soviet-era and Western missile systems, forms a crucial part of Ukraine's layered defense strategy against relentless Russian offensives.

The necessity for advanced weaponry is paramount, as each Patriot battery significantly enhances the protection of critical urban areas and infrastructures. Despite the high costs associated with such systems, the urgency of the situation has driven Western allies to reassess their military commitments to Ukraine in this ongoing conflict, which began with Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.
