European Leaders Seek Assurance as Trump Prepares for Putin Summit

European leaders are hopeful after discussing strategies with Donald Trump, who aims for a ceasefire in the ongoing Ukraine conflict during his upcoming summit with Putin. While Trump's assurances raise concerns about territorial negotiations, leaders stress Ukraine's essential involvement in the final agreement.

European leaders appeared cautiously optimistic after a virtual meeting with Donald Trump, held as he prepares for a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, centered on resolving the Ukraine conflict. The discussion revealed Trump's ambition for a ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow, emphasizing that any territorial changes must include the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. French President Emmanuel Macron noted that this communication provided clarity on Trump's intentions and allowed European leaders the opportunity to relay their expectations.
