The Berlin police, in collaboration with the public prosecutor’s office, reported that the suspect communicated thoughts that indicated he had ideated a plan to harm Jews over a stretch of weeks, suggesting that the location chosen for the attack was intentional. The 30-year-old victim, whose identity has yet to be released, suffered significant neck injuries necessitating emergency surgery and currently remains in a medically-induced coma; however, doctors have declared that his life is no longer in danger.
