Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway's Crown Princess, faces serious accusations, sparking a major legal and media storm.
The son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Marius Borg Høiby, is facing serious legal issues, being suspected of three rapes along with 23 additional offenses, as reported by police on Friday. Høiby, the stepson of the future Norwegian king, has previously been arrested thrice during 2024, with incidents occurring in August, September, and November.
After an ongoing investigation lasting 10 months, the case has now been transferred to prosecutors who will determine the next steps. Høiby's legal representative, Petar Sekulic, stated that while his client is taking the allegations seriously, he largely refutes wrongdoing, particularly regarding the allegations of sexual abuse and violence.
At 28 years old, Høiby lacks any royal title or official obligations, yet he has been under scrutiny since his initial arrest on August 4, 2024, on charges relating to assault. The Oslo Police District remarked that they conducted an exhaustive investigation, which included numerous witness interviews, several searches, and a thorough analysis of extensive digital evidence. Høiby has been questioned repeatedly during the autumn of 2024 and the spring of 2025 and has reportedly cooperated fully with authorities.
The nature of the allegations is serious, comprising multiple counts of sexually offensive behavior, abuse within a close relationship, and bodily harm. Some sexual offense cases have been dismissed due to statutory limitations and insufficient evidence, indicating a complex legal landscape. Police attorney Andreas Kruszewski mentioned that they could only confirm the existence of multiple victims but withheld specific numbers.
The Royal House of Norway has acknowledged the unfolding legal situation but has provided no further comments, emphasizing the need for the process to play out in the legal arena.
