Angie Stone, known for her soulful hits and influence in the music industry, lost her life following a van crash in Alabama after a performance, leaving her family and fans in mourning.

On Saturday, it was reported that Grammy-nominated R&B singer Angie Stone has died following a devastating car accident at the age of 63. The heart-wrenching news came from her daughter, Diamond Stone, who expressed her grief on Facebook, writing, “My mommy is gone.” Stone suffered fatal injuries when the van she was traveling in overturned in Alabama, shortly after she had finished performing.

Renowned for her evocative tracks such as "No More Rain (In This Cloud)" and "Wish I Didn't Miss You," Stone had garnered three Grammy nominations throughout her illustrious career. She first rose to fame in the 1970s as part of the groundbreaking female hip-hop trio The Sequence, whose hit single "Funk You Up" reached No. 15 on Billboard's Hot Soul Singles chart.

Diamond, who also pursues a career in music under the name Ladi Diamond, shared her heartbreak online, stating that she felt "numb" and had previously requested prayers for her family while on the road. A family spokesperson mentioned that they were in Montgomery, Alabama, and would provide further information soon.

The crash involved Stone and approximately nine other passengers in the van at the time of the incident. Guy Todd Williams, known as Rahiem from the iconic hip-hop group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, noted, “She left her indelible mark on the music industry initially as a member of the legendary rap group Sequence,” emphasizing the impact she made on the music scene. Tragically, she was the only fatality in the accident.

In addition to her music career, Angie Stone ventured into acting, making her debut in "The Hot Chick" alongside stars such as Rob Schneider and Rachel McAdams in 2002, and later featuring in "The Fighting Temptations" with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyoncé in 2003. The news of her passing has saddened countless fans and colleagues alike as they reflect on her remarkable legacy.
