The theft occurred just before the singer's Atlanta performances, drawing attention to security vulnerabilities in the industry.
In a distressing turn of events, several items, including unreleased music by Beyoncé, were reported stolen from a vehicle linked to her choreographer and dancer in Atlanta. The theft occurred on July 8, just days before the singer's four-night engagement in the city for her Cowboy Carter tour. According to local authorities, hard drives containing unreleased tracks, show plans, and set lists were among the missing items.
The rental vehicle, a Black Jeep Wagoneer, was parked by choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue near a food hall when they left to grab a bite to eat. Upon returning, they discovered that the rear window had been smashed and their belongings, including two suitcases, were gone. The police report indicated that "sensitive personal information for the musician" was housed inside the vehicle, facilitating the theft's implications for security protocols surrounding celebrity properties.
Among the stolen items were five jump drives featuring watermarked unreleased music, as well as plans for past and future performances. Additional thefts included a laptop, designer clothing, and Apple AirPods.
Following the incident, authorities have issued an arrest warrant, but details regarding the suspect remain undisclosed. Investigators are actively pursuing leads using tracking information sourced from the stolen laptop and headphones. They also collected fingerprints from the crime scene, identifying "two very light prints," as part of their investigation.
Despite the upheaval, Beyoncé has continued her performances in Atlanta, with her tour running from July 10 to the final show scheduled for Monday night. Notably, her husband, the rapper Jay-Z, made a special guest appearance during the third night of her concert series, much to fans’ delight. As the situation unfolds, the BBC has reached out to Beyoncé's representatives but has yet to receive a comment regarding the incident.
