As the civil war in Sudan continues to wreak havoc, the military announces that all rebel forces have been expelled from Khartoum state, following earlier victories in the capital. The RSF has not responded to these claims, while escalating violence and humanitarian crises persist.

Sudan's Army Claims Total Victory Over Rebels in Khartoum State
In a significant turn of events, the Sudanese military asserts it has completely ousted the paramilitary RSF from Khartoum state amid ongoing civil conflict.
In a remarkable assertion, Sudan’s army has declared that it has entirely cleared Khartoum state of rebel forces from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) amid the ongoing civil war. The military's statement, shared via Sudan's News Agency, came nearly two months after they successfully recaptured the capital’s key areas, including the presidential palace.
Earlier this week, hostilities reignited between the opposing factions in the city of Omdurman, which lies within Khartoum state. On Monday, the military announced the initiation of a “large-scale offensive” in that region, as reported by the AFP news agency. As of now, the RSF has yet to issue a public response regarding the military’s latest announcement.
Once the political epicenter of Sudan, Khartoum has seen a substantial shift in power dynamics, with military leaders relocating to Port Sudan in the east following the RSF’s capture of the capital. Port Sudan, previously viewed as a stable refuge, has recently faced significant violence, particularly after a drone strike earlier this month, which the army attributed to the RSF. This violent episode has led to critical infrastructure damage, resulting in severe water shortages and heightened power outages.
The ongoing conflict has also strained Sudan’s diplomatic relations, particularly with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Sudan accused the UAE of backing the RSF, allegations that the Gulf nation has firmly rejected. Continuing tensions have ensued as Sudan further claimed the UAE was involved in the recent attack on Port Sudan.
With the conflict escalating over the past three years, the humanitarian toll has been catastrophic, with thousands dead and millions displaced, marking it as one of the gravest crises in the world. Both combatants— the army and the RSF— have faced accusations of committing war crimes, which they have persistently denied.
