The Angara Airlines An-24 was on a scheduled flight from Blagoveshchensk, near the Chinese border, when it disappeared from radar approximately 16 kilometers from its destination in the far eastern region of Amur. Officials report that the plane was carrying 43 passengers, including five children, along with six crew members.
Amur's regional governor, Vasily Orlov, confirmed that all available resources had been mobilized for the search and recovery efforts. Shortly after the plane's disappearance, a civil aviation helicopter from Russia's emergency services reported sighting burning wreckage on a hillside near the location where the plane was last tracked. According to the emergency ministry, the wreckage was confirmed to be the missing aircraft.
Rescuers have been dispatched to the crash site, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the downed plane is already underway. The flight was in the final leg of its journey, having previously departed from Khabarovsk, situated in the southeast of the country.
